Micropaleontology Press is a division of the Micropaleontology Project, a nonprofit organization with the mission of promoting the stratigraphic sciences, through publications, education, exhibitions, and service to the profession. We welcome the participation of colleagues and of interested members of the public.

The international peer-reviewed journals Micropaleontology and Stratigraphy publish research that applies to the history of the earth's biosphere and physical environments, based on the evidence from the stratigraphic record.

For over 70 years, the ever-growing Ellis and Messina Catalogues have been the international authority on the names of genera and species of three main groups of fossilizing micro-organisms, based on carefully researched original descriptions from the world literature. All told, the Catalogues of Foraminifera (since 1942), Ostracoda (since 1954) and Diatoms (since 1982) now approach 82,000 named taxa in 198 looseleaf volumes, with more than 1,200 pages added annually. The complete Catalogues are available on the internet for all subscribers.

In partnership with the American Geological Institute, the online service Bibliography and Index of Micropaleontology provides a complete guide to the literature since 1972, in an efficient and highly user-friendly interface. The Handbook of Cenozoic Calcareous Nannoplankton is an illustrated guide to all currently recognized taxa in the sub-microscopic coccolithophore algae.

Current issues of Micropaleotology and Stratigraphy are in open public access.
